Government Science College, Veraval is the first government science college that has been established in Gir-Somnath district in 2016. It is blessed to be situated in the vicinity of sacred Somnath temple, Hindu Pilgrimage site. Gir-forest is also a few kilometers away from Veraval, which is a home for many wildlife creatures including lions, deer and monkeys. In particular, Asiatic lions can only be found in Gir-forest. Costal area of Veraval and Gir-Somnath district is also famous for Whale-Shark abundance. The college presently doesn’t have its own building. So, it is functioning in the building of Government Boys High school, Veraval. The college has been allocated 5.75 acres of land at Inaj and soon the construction of building will be started. The college facilitates many science students of the district who want to pursue their career in pure science. The college has been at a forefront in practicing innovative teaching methods and has been imparting value based quality education to the students. Humane and refined dimension of the college distinguishes it from other colleges. Along with excellence in academics, Government Science College, Veraval emphasizes on development of multi talented personality through intellectual, cultural, sports and other enriching exposures. The faculties here are well qualified and ever eager to guide and to motivate students to achieve greater heights. The students enthusiastically participate and win prizes in co-curricular and cultural activities at intercollegiate and Bhakt Kavi Narsinh Maheta University, Junagadh. The college tries to widen the knowledge horizons of its science students beyond boundaries to lead them to be in tune with tomorrow so as to contribute the best in scientific, economic and cultural empowerment of the nation.
